HI, I'm looking at buying a pair of Australian Painted turtles, does anyone know of any breeders in QLD? Also, can Australian Painted turtles be kept under class 1 licence?

    Thanks.

Hi mate. There's currently no one breeding Painted's in QLD.
They can be kept on an an ordinary recreational wildlife licence.
They should not be purchased in pairs, they are highly aggressive.

Ah OK, thanks, is that just aggression towards other turtles or aggression in general? Would there be any Australian breeders that would be able to ship to QLD?

Just to clear this up, you are ONLY allowed to keep a maximum of two Painted turtles on an ordinary recreational licence. If you bred them or purchased more then you would have to upgrade your licence.

The current Recreational Licence allows you to keep two Restricted animals ONLY and Painted's are restricted. If you already have any other Restricted reptiles on your licence then you wouldn't be able to keep any Painted turtles on it.

Aggression towards other turtles including their own species. Turtles are solitary animals and do best when kept on their own, never in pairs.

Here's a Painted that was listed for sale here on AFT about a fortnight ago. You could contact Rebecca and see if it's still available.
    Good luck.
