Hi there, my 9 year old son is absolutely obsessed with turtles and after asking for what seems like forever, I've decided I'm going to try get one for Christmas but I'd like to be prepared. Please tell me everything I need to know. We are only planning on getting one turtle.
Which turtle is best for kids/beginners?
Do we get a baby or older turtle?
What size tank will we need?
    What food for the turtle?
What sort of licence do we need?
What do we need for the tank?
Recommendation of any breeders between Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter?
Everything else we need to know please??

    Thank you. :)

First of all, welcome to AFT Miss7625! You've come to the right place, and huge kudos for doing your research well in advance! Kev has pointed you in the right direction for info - follow the advice here and you won't go wrong. It's a lot of reading but turtles are not easy pets and they live a VERY long time so proper research is essential. My kids have learned heaps through turtle keeping, so it's a great opportunity for your son too. Welcome!
