    Hello,
I've purchased a second hand tank as a spare and it hasn't been cleaned. There is baked on grime and I was wondering which cleaning products I would be able to use on it to give it a really good clean that won't harm anything I put in the tank.
    Thank you!

    Hi atory,

I've used CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) before successfully removing calcium stains on glass tanks. 79094182-70.jpeg

You will need to thoroughly hose the tank out afterwards. Then scrub the tank with bicarb soda and water to neutralise any leftover chemicals.

You can buy CLR at Bunnings.

You can try vinegar. It gets off calcium build up.

I bought a secondhand tank as well, all I used was water and a razor blade. However it did take quite a while to get it all off. If you do use a razor blade, be careful not to cut under the silicone joints!

I'll second vinegar. It's been used by many including myself for years to clean calcium and limescale off shower screens with much success. It does get you in the mood for fish & chips though.

Yeah the smell of vinegar reminds me of fish and chips every time.
